In
the very early years, Broadcasters and two-pickup Esquires were made
out of pine. The wood is very warm and rich sounding. It adds tone
and life to the great Telecaster twang.
When Leo made the first two-pickup
Esquire, the body was like a regular full size Tele but it was 1
9/16" thick. After that, he made them all 1 3/4" thick. I personally
like the 1 9/16" body the best. It has
a little less weight and gets the same great sound.
Glendale Guitars
offers both 1 9/16"
bodies and 1 3/4" bodies. All pine bodies are one piece. They are
cut out and hand-sanded by Brian Poe, and the edge is sanded to a
1/8" radius. When you receive your unfinished body, it is ready for
a finish. All after-market Tele necks are compatible (e.g. the All
Parts neck and Fender neck). The control cavities are tight the way
they should be. When you buy a Glendale body you are buying one of
the best crafted bodies made today. A lot of time, engineering and
effort have gone into each and every one. |
